We Changed Wedding Venues!! (Yup, really!)

You changed your venue with weeks to go?

Sure did. Some of the vendor puzzle pieces just weren't fitting at our old venue which, very generously, offered to let me and Chris out of our contract.

With that information in mind, my esteemed and utterly invaluable wedding planner Katie Taylor sussed out the scene and found exactly three venues that were available to us in, no lie, about 30 minutes. We put our heads together for a few more days to explore our options and make informed decisions. Ultimately, we chose to move the wedding ceremony and the reception to downtown's historic Billings Depot.

What does this change mean for our guests?

I honestly believe the change will impact our guests minimally.

The Billings Depot is located 0.03 miles from the lobby doors of the DoubleTree Hotel, where most guests are staying. For many, the distance can be easily covered on foot.

For guests who may not be comfortable walking to the venue, we are exploring the possibility/availability of employing the hotel shuttle. We will also do our best to get the pulse on Billings' Uber/Lyft scene in the event we can't utilize the shuttle. We will be sure to communicate our findings, but don't hesitate to let us know if this detail is of importance to you.

Things to know if you're driving to the venue

Parking

The majority of parking available will be street parking. There is a parking lot to the East of the Depot, but please note some spots are reserved and are not available to the public. Though there is also a parking lot to the West, it has been impressed upon us that cars parked in it will be towed.

Security

While security will be onsite at the Depot, we recommend not leaving valuables in plain sight in your vehicle, which will be parked in public spaces, separate from the purview of our event's security. This really applies to your time in town no matter where you're parked. Again, Chris and I have not had any bad experiences to report, so just communicating some basics to keep in mind.

Gabby, are you okay?

Oddly enough, I really am, lol. I really think landing the Depot is one of those examples of things working out the way they were always supposed to.

From the get-go, the Depot was on our short list of venue options. Working full time and living out of town, Chris and I visited venues we could on the weekends and getting to see the Depot during their weekday hours proved not possible, so we would walk around the building and peer through the windows, lol. We always liked what we saw, but trusted our time touring the other venues more.

Then, ironically, we still booked without yet seeing the inside! This time, we put our trust in Katie, who promised the Depot would meet our expectations and that we could absolutely pull this off if we wanted. Making the choice was definitely anxiety-inducing but, once made, the burden of not-quite-right elements fell away.

Chris and I have now had the pleasure of getting to visit the inside of the Depot, and we really are excited to share it with y'all. We're so close, and it's getting better and better as we go. How lucky are we?!
